Universal Serial Bus (USB) port problems

A USB device does not work.

Verify that:
– You are not trying to use a USB device during POST if you have a standard
(non-USB) keyboard attached to the keyboard port.
Note:
If a standard (non-USB) keyboard is attached to the keyboard port, the
USB is disabled and no USB device will work during POST.
– The correct USB device driver is installed.
– Your operating system supports USB devices.
Power-supply LED errors
Use the information in this section to solve power-supply problems.
Note:
The minimum configuration required for the dc good light to be lit is:

System board (set switch 7 of SW1 to bypass the power switch; see
“System-board switches and jumpers” on page 47.

Move switch 7 of SW 1 to
bypass power control. If the dc good LED
is lit, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Watch the
screen for any POST errors. Check the
System Error Log for any listed problems. If
the system starts with no errors:
a. Power switch assembly
b. System board
2. Remove the adapters and disconnect the
cables and power connectors to all internal
and external devices. Turn on the system.
If the dc good LED is lit, replace the
adapters and devices one at a time until
you isolate the problem.
3. Power supply.
4. Power cage assembly, if installed.
5. System board.
