Offloading
data
for
support
For
support
purposes,
it
might
be
required
to
offload
files
from
the
DR550
or
FSG
nodes.
Collecting
log
files
The
most
convenient
method
for
collecting
log
files
is
to
access
any
of
the
DR550
components
is
from
the
Management
Interface
of
the
IBM
Director.
If
possible,
obtain
screen
shots
that
can
aid
IBM
Support.
Screen
shots
must
be
taken
from
customer
workstation.
Important
log
files:
v
SSAM
Server
output
of
snap
command:
snap
-gc
.
v
DR550
Storage
Controller:
Major
Event
Log
(MEL)
and
all
support
data
from
DS4000
Storage
Manager
for
DR550
client.
Click
on
the
Advanced
option,
then
Maint
,
and
select
Collect
All
Support
Data
.
v
DR550
SAN
Switch
–
supportshow
or
supportsave
.
Follow
the
procedures
established
by
the
solution
support
team
in
collecting
log
files
and
delivering
them
to
the
appropriate
support
team.
Using
IBM
Director
IBM
Director
provides
a
function
to
transfer
files
from
either
the
p52A
nodes
or
the
FSG
nodes
to
the
IBM
Director
server
machine.
Once
on
the
IBM
Director
server
machine,
the
files
can
be
compressed
into
a
single
file
using
zip
or
tar
depending
upon
the
platform.
Additionally,
the
user
can
open
a
remote
session
to
the
server
and
compress
the
files
using
tar
–cvf
<output
file><list
of
files
to
be
combined>
,
then
offload
the
compressed
file
using
file
transfer
through
IBM
Director.
To
gather
and
compress
SSAM
Server
files
prior
to
offload:
1.
Log
in
to
the
DR550
SSAM
Server
as
root
.
This
must
be
at
a
local
console.
2.
Run
snap
–gbc
to
generate
the
snap.tar.Z
file
in
the
ibmsupt
directory.
This
compressed
file
will
contain
the
DR550
SSAM
Server
error
log,
configuration
information,
AIX
level,
list
of
installed
devices,
information
about
the
Object
Data
Manager,
and
several
other
files.
You
must
have
root
privileges
to
use
this
command.
3.
Log
off
and
close
the
session.
To
gather
and
compress
FSG
files
prior
to
offload:
1.
In
IBM
Director
Console,
right-click
on
p52a
,
scroll
down
and
select
Remote
Session
.
2.
Log
in
with
root
authority
or
switch
to
root
(
su
–root
).
3.
Change
to
the
/var/local
directory.
4.
Compress
the
files
using
tar
–cvf
<output
file><list
of
files
to
be
combined>
.
5.
Log
off
and
close
the
session.
To
send
data
files
to
the
IBM
support
center
for
analysis:
1.
Right-click
on
p52a
,
scroll
down
and
select
File
transfer
.
