When to calibrate the compass
1. If the compass is being affected by an interfering magnetic
fi
eld, it should be re-calibrated.
2. The compass may need to be re-calibrated for accuracy when the telephone function is turned on in the unit.
3. When you are calibrating the compass, keep the device horizontal. When you are using the compass, hold the
device horizontal.
4. Calibration should be processed in very low magnetic
fi
eld environments.
G-SENSOR
The device has a tilt sensor built in it. This is able to tell in 3 dimensions which way the
device is being held. You can see a demo of this feature in the Balance Ball game in the
Games folder. You will also
fi
nd a utility in the Programs area which allows the tilt function to
control the device in the same way as the navigation pad.

Before you use the tilt sensor, you must calibrate it. This will zero the tilt sensor so that it is aware which direction is
level. To set this function, go to:
1. Start Settings > System tab > G-Sensor.
2. Calibration is necessary on
fi
rst use of G-Sensor. Hold the device level and when ready, press Calibrate button.
3. The device will notify you when the sensor has been set up successfully. For more information about the tilt sensor,
including demo applications and sample code on how to program with the sensor, please go to

ADOBE READER
Your device is pre-loaded with Adobe Reader viewer. This application allows you to read
fi
les
sent to you in Portable Document File (.pdf) format. For example, if a colleague sends you
a pdf
fi
le through email, you will be able to download it and view it on the device. Similarly,
clicking on a link to a pdf
fi
le in Internet Explorer Mobile will also allow you to view the
fi
le.
You will
fi
nd that the program will start as soon as you click on a pdf
fi
le that you want to read.

To start the program manually go to Start
> Programs > Adobe Reader LE.
After the welcome screen, you will be shown the
fi
le system of the device. If you have copied
a pdf
fi
le to your device, or you saved a pdf
fi
le from an email, you should click on the folder
where you placed it. This is most likely to be the
My Documents folder
. Once you
fi
nd the
fi
le,
click on it.
Once the pdf
fi
le is opened, you will be able to see it on screen. You can use the controls
shown below to navigate around the document. On the fast navigation bar, use the zoom
function to enhance the legibility.
INTERNAL STORAGE CARD
The device has a built-in 2 Gigabyte storage card. This can be used to store pictures,
ringtones and other
fi
les, and it can also be used to install applications. You can view the
available space on the card by going to:
