To map a drive letter using Windows XP

Click Start , All Programs , Accessories , Windows Explorer , My
Computer .

Click the Tools menu, Map Network Drive...

Select a letter from the Drive drop-down list.

In the Folder box, browse to your shared folder or type the Uniform
Naming Convention (UNC).
For example: enter \\HPMediaVault\Documents (HPMediaVault is the
device name; Documents is the name of the shared folder.)

Check Reconnect at logon .

Click Finish .
Note: Special considerations when mapping drive letters:
•
If you changed the name of your server, enter the new name instead of
HPMediaVault in step 4 above.
•
When mapping drive letters to shared folders that are password
protected, you must complete an additional step: enter the shared folder’s
user name and password when prompted. Use the shared folder’s name
as the user name. The password is the one you created. For additional
information, see Creating a Shared folder on page 5-63 .
•
If your server is configured for security and you map drive letters to
shared folders, you might have to enter a user name and password. You
do not have to enter a user name and password if you already logged
onto your Windows computer with the same user name/password.
To disconnect a drive letter using Windows XP

Click Start , All Programs , Accessories , Windows Explorer , My
Computer .

Right-click on the icon for the mapped drive.

Click Disconnect .
This removes the drive letter; you can still access the resource from My
Network Places .

Before taking the following steps be sure that Network discovery is turned on.
