DLT : The system fails to recognize the
drive.
The appliance may only recognize a SCSI device on the bus that was there when it
powered on. Try rebooting the appliance, but turn the tape drive on first.
There may be a conflict on the SCSI bus. The tape drive should be the only device
attached to the appliance via the SCSI port. It can have any SCSI ID, other than 7.
DLT : The drive will not accept a tape
cartridge.
Was the drive powered down with the Cartridge Locking Handle up ? If so, push the
handle down and up again twice. The green Operate Handle light should then light,
and you can insert a cartridge.
Backing Up the Appliance

The tape is full. Remove the current cassette and insert another one to write further
information.
DDS unit inactive when should be writing.
If the tape is
write protected
, then it will not perform any operation when trying to
write to it. The appliance should alert the administrator by displaying a message on
the administrator's console. To write to the tape remove the write protect. If the write
protect is already off refer to

page.
