of the key services is corrupted, this will also trigger a reboot followed by the
appliance trying to repair itself.
This may result in the appliance taking a long time to boot as the rebuild takes about
30 minutes to run. During this time the services are unavailable. Once successfully
booted, the OS should be repaired and subsequent boots should proceed normally. If
the appliance continually has reboot problems when loading,
contact HP
.
The network icon has a cross through it.
A network error has occurred. This could be due to :
The appliance could not obtain an IP address when trying to configure itself
via the DHCP server.
The failure to receive an IP address from the DHCP server could be because
the server is out of addresses to dispatch, or that the server has crashed. There
is a workaround for the former - ask the network administrator to increase the
number of dynamically allocated IP addresses! For the latter, get the network
administrator to get the server working properly. Alternatively, the appliance
can be reconfigured to use a static IP address. To do this, reset the appliance
by pressing its power button four times, and at the prompt on the LCD, press
the power button four more time. This will enable you to reconfigure the
network settings. If the DHCP server method was not successful, then when
configuring the network settings, use the static IP address option.
This appliance or another on the network has the same TCP/IP address as that
of another computer on the network.
Check the TCP/IP address of the appliance and make sure that it is not the
same as any of the other devices attached to the network. If the appliance
does clash with another machine, then reset it using the method outlined
above, and use a new TCP/IP address that doesn't clash.
There is a temperature alert.
Make sure the room in which the appliance is situated is not too hot or cold. The
environmental sensors signal a problem if the internal temperature becomes too
extreme. The external ambient limits are set to 5°c lower and 35°c higher. If the
appliance is hot, give it more ventilation. Reboot the appliance. The temperature
settings can be changed using the Hardware Management Tools.
There is a voltage alert.
Voltage irregularities in the supply could have caused a fault. Reboot the appliance.
