The ISR 9024 S/D chassis is a 1U-high 19-inch wide rack mounted ANSI, ETSI and RoHS-compliant
chassis that contains the following modules:
•
The base board, which hosts the InfiniBand 4X SDR or DDR switch chip and provides the
following:
— 24–port 4x 10 Gb/s or 20 Gb/s switch chip.
— 12 4x physical connection to base board ports.
— Base board to management card interface.
— DC to DC conversion.
— Temperature sensing mechanism.
•
The management card, which is a processor PCI mezzanine card (PrPMC), is installed only
in an internally managed ISR 9024S/D-M. It provides the following features:
— A Power PC440 core CPU, operating at 400 MHz.
— On-board EEPROM that stores configuration information using the I²C interface.
— User flash memory on the CPU’s device bus.
•
Internal I²C (Inter-Integrated Circuit) for chassis management purposes with an external
DB9 connector.
•
10/100BaseTX Ethernet port driven by the Management Card to the front and rear panels
to the RJ-45 connectors (internally managed ISR 9024S/D-M). In an externally managed
configuration, there is no such port on the front panel.
•
EIA-232 serial port via DB9 connector in the internally managed ISR 9024-M.
•
InfiniBand and system indicator LEDs.
•
A reset button for software reset and unit initialization.
The ISR 9024 S/D is available in four configurations:
•
ISR 9024S: 24 4X ports, externally managed.
•
ISR 9024S–M: 24 4X ports, internally managed.
•
ISR 9024D: 24 4X DDR ports, externally managed.
•
ISR 9024D-M: 24 4X DDR ports, internally managed.
The ISR 9024 S/D is internally managed (master mode) by an add-on management card, or
externally managed (slave mode) where no management card is installed. You can manage any
ISR 9024 S/D slave from any ISR 9024 S/D master or from any other ISRxxxx device in the fabric
that includes a management card.
3.1.1 Internally Managed ISR 9024 S/D–M Front Panel
An internally managed ISR 9024 S/D–M incorporates a management card, a RJ-45 Ethernet
management port, and a serial CLI console interface port. A second Ethernet port is located on
the rear panel. However, you cannot use both Ethernet ports simultaneously. The serial port is
available on the front panel and is used in conjunction with a DB-9 adapter. Both front and rear
panels provide InfiniBand port and status indications, which enable you to monitor the switch
operation and diagnose fabric problems.
Figure 3-1
shows the front panel of the internally
managed configuration.
