The ISR 9096 enables high performance applications to run on distributed nodes, share common
storage and share network resources. This device has the following physical and operational
features:
•
A 6U chassis, designed for industry-standard racks.
• 96 ports, each providing 10 Gb/Sec of throughput.
• Latency of less than 420 nanoseconds.
• Multi-protocol connectivity in a single chassis:
— Server clusters.
— Fiber Channel (FC)
— Storage Area Networks (SANs).
— NAS appliances.
— Internet Protocol (IP) SANs.
— TCP/IP Ethernet networks (LANs).
• Up to four redundant fabric boards, model sFB-4
• Up to 4 line boards, model sLB-24, each providing 24 ports of type 4X.
• Two redundant management boards, model sMB, including a CPU Mezzanine.
• Up to 4 router blade drawers, model sRBD that each support up to three router blades, which
are either of the following models:
— TCP/IP internet protocol router blade, model IPR that provides four Gigabit Ethernet
ports, and an RJ-45 management port that includes both 10/100 Base-T Ethernet and
serial ports.
— Fibre Channel router blade, model FCR. that provides four ports of 1 or 2 Gb/s
auto-sensing Fiber Channel.
• Up to five redundant power supplies (PSUs).
• A vertical fan unit, model sFU-2.
• A horizontal fan unit, model sFU-8.
All the modules support hot-swap (subject to redundancy in the configuration) providing that
the fabric software supports hot-swap operations.
1.6 Identifying the ISR 9288 Interconnect
The ISR 9288 is a modular interconnect designed for building large computing clusters. Figure 1-6
shows the front panel view of an ISR 9288 chassis.
