•
Up to 11 router blade drawers, model sRBD that each support up to three router blades,
which are either of the following models:
— TCP/IP internet protocol router blade, model IPR that provides four Gigabit Ethernet
ports, and an RJ-45 management port that includes both 10/100 Base-T Ethernet and
serial ports.
— Fibre Channel router blade, model FCR. that provides four ports of 1 or 2 Gb/s
auto-sensing Fiber Channel.
•
Up to five redundant power supplies (PSUs).
•
A vertical fan unit, model sFU-4.
•
A horizontal fan unit, model sFU-8.
All the modules support hot-swap (subject to redundancy in the configuration) providing that
the fabric software supports hot-swap operations.
1.7 Understanding the Interconnect Management Capabilities
Physical device management connections are:
•
The fast interface, which is a standard CAT–5e format, Base-T 10/100 Ethernet port.
When the interconnect is configured with an IP address, this connection provides the login
interface to:
— The switch command line interface (CLI), via a telnet log-in session.
— An interface to third-party management software via an SNMP connection.
— The graphical user interface (GUI), via a Web browser or Java client connection.
— A remote FTP server for downloading firmware revisions, and for uploading backup
files.
•
The Serial interface (RS232) provides an interface to the CLI, which is primarily used for
initial configuration of the interconnect and troubleshooting or diagnostics. You can connect
with a DB9 cable (or adapter, in the case of the ISR 9024) from a dumb terminal or a PC
running a terminal or telnet application. If you are unable to manage an interconnect by any
other method, this interface provides a fallback.
All three InfiniBand interconnects have an embedded CPU that provides the following
interconnect management software:
•
Command Line Interface (CLI)
You connect to the CLI by using a serial console or a telnet session. The device manager is
a graphical implementation of this CLI.
•
VoltaireVision™ – Fabric manager
This is a graphical interface that provides a view of the entire fabric. When the interconnect
is configured with an IP address and connected to a network, you can connect to the fabric
manager remotely, by using a Web browser or a local Java Web Start client.
•
VoltaireVision™ – Device manager
This is a graphical interface that provides that switch management operations that are also
available by using the CLI. When the interconnect is configured with an IP address and
connected to a network, you can connect to the fabric manager remotely, by using a Web
browser or a local Java Web Start client.
The management software collects performance statistics and performs environmental monitoring
of the interconnect. It supports an industry-standard management information base (MIB) that
can integrate with other MIB-based management tools. You use the management software to
discover the fabric topology and configure hosts and other interconnects. It also provides fabric
troubleshooting and analysis information, such as the ability to determine bad links visually,
without the need to physically examine devices.
