Solution
Insufficient cleaning
Did you pour the detergent into the detergent
dispenser?
z
If you pour the detergent directly into the drum,
the high-concentration detergent solution
cannot be created.
Pour the detergent into the detergent dispenser.
Darkening and
yellowing
Did you add excessive amounts of softener?
z
Adding excessive amounts of softener may
result in darkened laundry.
Use the recommended amount of softener.
(P. 26, 27)
Did you add excessive amounts of detergent?
z
Adding excessive amounts of detergent may
result in darkened or yellowed laundry.
Refer to the detergent indicator to determine the
appropriate amount of detergent.
(P. 26, 27)
z
Depending on the level of soiling, laundry
may darken or yellow even if you use the
appropriate amounts of detergent and
softener.
Increase the washing time and number of rinse
cycles, or use the Water-Injection Rinse function.
(P. 55)
z
Using liquid detergent may make the problem
more noticeable.
If this is a concern, use a synthetic powder
detergent.
z
Do you want to remove the darkening or
yellowing?
Note
Some laundry cannot be washed with bleach,
so be sure to check the washing instructions
or labels on each item. The treatment
described here may not remove all darkening
or yellowing.
Try the following:
z
Soak the item overnight in a 1:3 ratio solution of
detergent and water before washing.
z
If the problem persists, soak whites in a
chlorine-based bleach or reducing bleach
solution, and soak colors and patterns in
a oxidizing bleach solution. (Soak for short
periods in a sink, for example.) Be sure to read
the instructions on the bleach’s packaging
carefully.
Color bleeding and
discoloration
Are you washing deep-colored laundry or
brand-new colored laundry together with other
laundry?
z
Check the washing instructions and labels on
each item.
z
Dyes may deepen, resulting in more noticeable
color bleeding.
Wash deep-colored laundry and items that are
likely to bleed color separately from other laundry.
Avoid soaking for long periods.
Does the tap water contain rust from the
plumbing fixtures?
z
Rusting in the plumbing fixtures may result in
discoloration of laundry.
Run the tap water through a towel, for example,
and check for rust. If the water contains rust,
consult a professional service technician.

Coarse textures
z
The piles on towels and pile fabric can flatten,
resulting in coarse textures.
We recommend using a fabric softener.
Use the [SOFT] program.
If coarse textures are a concern after drying,
run the [DRY] > [FUZZY] program again for
30 minutes.
