Notes on laundry
The [DELICATE] program operates with almost no rotation of the drum, and is intended gentle
washing of delicate clothes with
(gentle hand wash) on their labels.
This program washes clothes without applying force, so please take note of the following before use.
Preparing the laundry
z
Treat heavy stains as soon as possible.
Stains become harder to remove as time passes. Partial cleaning of the stained area before wash may help
remove them.
z
Turn clothes that have buttons or embroidery inside out.
z
Close all buttons and fasteners.
Testing for color bleeding
z
Test for color bleeding on items for which you suspect it might occur. Apply some detergent onto a white
towel, press it hard onto an inconspicuous area of the item, and check whether color was transferred to the
towel.
If color bleeding occurred, do not wash the item.
z
Be especially careful of scarves and other items that are likely to bleed color.
Pretreating sweat and other stains
z
Apply some detergent on the collar,
cuffs, lower hem, areas surrounding
pockets, or stained area, and brush
in a single direction.
z
Place a towel underneath
the stained area, apply some
detergent, and gently tap the
stain out with a brush.
Sweat stains on collars, cuffs, etc.
Other stains
z
In case an item shrinks significantly, we recommend creating a cardboard cutout of its original
shape to use as a guide during restoration.
Tips for removing stains
z
If a laundry item stains, soak the item in a 1:3 ratio solution of detergent and water.
Ú
If the above treatment does not remove the stain, use the following types of commercially available bleaches.
z
Bleach can be broadly classified into oxidizing types and reducing types. Oxidizing types can be
further classified into chlorine-based and peroxide-based.
Do not use chlorine-based bleach, except in the [TUB CLEAN] program, as doing so may result in
malfunction of the machine.
Each type of bleach can and cannot be used for certain types of laundry as follows, so be sure to
check the instructions on the bleach’s packaging for proper use beforehand.
• Oxidizing type
Peroxide-based: Can be used for colored or patterned clothes; powder type cannot be used for wool or silk.
• Reducing type
Can be used for yellowing caused by iron in water, rust stains, and yellowing in shirt collar linings caused by
chlorine-based bleach. Cannot be used for colored and patterned clothes.
Notes on detergent
z
Use dry cleaning detergent (liquid) for clothes with
(dry clean) on their labels. Neutral detergent (liquid) can
also be used for clothes with
(gentle hand wash) on their labels.
z
Determine the amount of detergent to use based on the indications.
z
Use only liquid detergents.
