4.5 Head Section Motor
Tools required: (2) 10 mm wrench
13 mm socket
Ratchet
Removal
1. Set the brakes.
2. Raise the sleep surface to the highest position.
3. Raise the head section to the highest position.
NOTE:
If the head section motor is defective, the CPR control can be used to raise the
head section.
SHOCK HAZARD:
Unplug the unit from its power source. Failure to do so could result in
personal injury or equipment damage.
4. Unplug the unit from its power source. Let the unit sit for 60 seconds so the
battery will time out.
5. Remove the headboard.
6. Remove the seat and knee sections.
7. Remove the two screws (A) and washers (B) securing the power supply
cover (C) to the power supply (D) (see figure 4-6 on page 4-16).
8. Remove the cover (C).
9. On the power supply P.C. board, disconnect the head section motor
connector (number 3).
10. Remove the cable cover on the central rail and remove the head section
motor cable.
11. Using the CPR control, lower the head section to the flat position.
12. Disconnect the CPR cable (F) from the head motor actuator arm (G) (see
figure 4-7 on page 4-16).
13. Count the number of threads (E) on the CPR cable (F) that extend past the
cable mount (H) on the head motor (I).
