4.10 Foot Hilow Column

Tools required:

13 mm socket
Ratchet
Extension
(2) Jack stands
Vice grips®

1

Removal

1. Set the brakes.

2. Remove the footboard.

3. Raise the head section to the full up position.

4. Remove the seat section of the sleep deck.

5. Remove the thigh section of the sleep deck.

WARNING:

Do not work under an unsupported load. Install appropriate temporary 
supports. Failure to do so could result in personal injury or equipment 
damage.

6. Place the jack stands under the articulating frame.

7. Lower the articulating frame onto the jack stands.

SHOCK HAZARD:

Unplug the unit from its power source. Failure to do so could result in 
personal injury or equipment damage.

8. Unplug the unit from its power source. Let the unit to sit for 60 seconds for 

the battery to time out.

9. Remove the power supply cover.

10. Disconnect the head hilow column cable from the power supply P.C. 

board.

11. Install the Vice Grips® into the head hilow channel (see figure 4-15 on 

page 4-31).
