General Thermal Transfer Troubleshooting
1.
Make sure that you have a full registered version of TagPrint Pro installed. You can check this by looking
at the “
About...
” option in the
Help
menu. If you have properly installed the software, the serial number
should be listed there.
2.
Make sure that you have the correct driver installed. Use the instructions from earlier in this chapter to
install the correct drivers for your printer.
3.
Make sure that the printer cable is connected on both ends and that the LPT1 port on your computer is
configured correctly. Try swapping printer cables with another computer in the office. This is the problem
more often than people would think.
4.
Try printing to a different printer. Make sure that the printer port on the computer is working correctly.
5.
Make sure your computer is compatible with TagPrint Pro. You need Windows 95/98 or Window NT 4.0
(or better) to properly run TagPrint Pro.
6.
Make sure the printer is on and ready to print. Make sure the printer is not in pause mode.
7.
Try to re-start your computer. Sometimes just clearing things out of memory will take care of system prob-
lems.
8.
Try re-installing the TagPrint Pro software from the original install disks. The original software may have
become corrupted.
9.
Try installing the software on a different computer and testing it with your printer. In doing this, you can
eliminate the computer as being the problem. If the printer works with a different computer, the problem
lies somewhere in the old computer.
10.
Try running the software while not connected to the network (if you are on one).
Returning a Thermal Transfer Printer for Repair
If you believe that your printer is in need of repair, please be sure to call HellermannTyton to have a technical support
person go over the problems with you. Perhaps a solution can be found without having to send it in for repair. If the
technical support person determines that your printer is in need of repair, please follow these instructions:
1.
Call your distributor to request a RGA for your printer. You will need to have the model number and serial
number of your printer ready. Make sure to describe the problem to your distributor for the RGA.
2.
You will receive instructions from your distributor on what to do next in the process. The distributor may
have you ship the printer back directly, or they may want you to return the printer to them first.
If your printer is still covered under the 1-year warranty, there will be no repair charges incurred. The print head is
covered for 90 days from purchase. You are responsible for shipping the printer in its original carton for repair.
HellermannTyton will be responsible for shipping the printer back to you. Expect 4 to 8 weeks for the repair of your
printer.
You will be responsible for any repair charges beyond the warranty period.
