HROUD
Shrouds shipped from the manufacturer may arrive with the sides slightly bowed
in from the pressure of packing material. Although this is not a permanent
condition, it should be corrected prior to installing the link assembly or the link
assembly may rub against the inside of the shroud and cause the Shaker to collect
overweight units of blood.
1. Partially assemble the shroud by installing the bag pins, as described in
the previous section.
2. Place the shroud in a sink or wash tub with the opening facing up. Insert
a 2 x 4 x 5.50 in. wooden block, padded on each end with 1 x 2 x 5 in.
foam pads, immediately behind and parallel to the front boss and wedge
it firmly in place.
3. Fill the shroud with hot water 140

to 160
°
F (60
°
to 71
°
C) and allow the
shroud to soak for one hour. Pour off the water, leaving the block in place,
and allow the shroud to cool for at least 30 minutes.
4. Remove the block and foam pads.
5. Dry the shroud and prepare to install the link assembly.
