PROCEDURES
B-3
Test the Key Switch
Genie specifications require that this procedure be
performed every 250 hours or quarterly, whichever
comes first.
Proper key switch action and response is essential
to safe machine operation. The machine can be
operated from the ground or platform controls and
the activation of one or the other is accomplished
with the key switch. Failure of the key switch to
activate the appropriate control panel could cause a
hazardous operating situation.
1 Pull out the red Emergency Stop button to the
on position at both the ground and platform
controls.
2 Turn the key switch to ground control, start the
engine and then turn the key switch to
platform
control
.
3 Check all machine function from the
ground
controls
.
Result: All machine functions should
not
operate.
4 Turn the key switch to ground control.
5 Check all machine function from the
platform
controls
.
Result: All machine functions should
not
operate.
6 Turn the key switch to the off position.
Result: The engine should stop and no functions
should operate.
B-4
Check the Exhaust System
Genie specifications require that this procedure be
performed every 250 hours or quarterly, whichever
comes first.
Maintaining the exhaust system is essential to
good engine performance and service life. Running
the engine with a damaged or leaking exhaust
system can cause component damage and unsafe
operating conditions.
Bodily injury hazard. Do not
inspect while the engine is running.
Remove the key to secure from
operation.
Burn hazard. Beware of hot engine
components. Contact with hot
engine components may result in
severe burns.
To access the engine:
1 Remove the engine tray retaining fastener
located under the engine tray. Swing the engine
tray out away from the machine and secure it
from moving.
Crushing hazard. Failure to install
the fastener into the engine tray
anchor hole to secure the engine
tray from moving could result in
death or serious injury.
