Calculating rope length
If the rope length is unknown, you can calculate its length by means of the period of oscillation of the hook,
as follows:
•
Swing the hook and measure the time it takes for 10 complete oscillations (an oscillation is the time
the hook takes to swing and return to starting position).

Calculate the period of oscillation
T = measurement [

Calculate rope length with the formula:
L = g * ( T / 2
π )

Where:
L = rope length in meters.
g = gravity constant [9,81
m/s
2

T = period of oscillation
Enter the result in the “H&C SERVICE \known position” parameter when requested during the “rope length
definition procedure”, leaving the hook (trolley or beam) in the same position.
