for scratching the coffee puck out of the filter
basket. Dispose of the coffee powder in domestic waste or degradable organic waste. Do
not dispose of the coffee powder in the sink to avoid clogging up the outlet pipe.
4. Empty tthe portafilter by holding it upside down and knocking the used coffee
powder out. Then, rinse the filter basket and portafilter with hot water, for remo-
ving residues of coffee powder and the oils of the coffee. You may use the hot
water function of the appliance for this.
5. If you wish to make normal coffee (Long Black), add the required amount of hot
water to your espresso via the steam wand (see: ‘Hot Water’).
6. If you wish to make latté or cappuccino, you can textur the required milk via the
steam function (see: ‘Texturing Milk’).
7. At the end of your coffee making session, do not leave the appliance connected
to the power supply uselessly. Always switch off the appliance via the ON/OFF
button (the display gets dark) and unplug the appliance, if you do not wish to
use the appliance again.
8. Empty the drip tray and re-insert the drip tray into the base of the espresso machi-
ne (see: ‘Emptying the Drip Tray’).

TEXTURING MILK
WARNING
– Via the steam wand, steam and hot water are given off, cau-
sing the risk of burns and damage. Additionally the steam wand will be hot during
use and some time thereafter. Only touch the steam wand at the dark handle. Due
to the extreme local heating, even heat-resistant glas could crack and heat-resistant
plastic could melt. Therefore, splinters and other particles or chemicals could get into
your beverages, causing severe risk of inuries and damage to your health.
IMPORTANT -
After selecting the steam function, the water system needs some seconds
for heating up to the remakably higher steam temperature, before steam can be produ-
ced. Additionally, the espresso machine needs to give off some steam for pre-heating the
steam wand, before texturing (frothing up) milk. After using the steam function, the water
system must be cooled down to the espresso temperature. Therefore, a short time after
using the steam function, steam could escape from under the metal grid of the drip tray.
