HIGH TEMPERATURE – RISK OF BURNS
Your new » Design Espresso Barista Pro « is designed for brewing coffee
(extracting espresso) via hot water and steam under high pressure. Thus,
some parts (group head, portafilter, filter basket, steam wand) will be very
hot during operation and some time thereafter. Strictly, adhere to the fol-
lowing precautions for avoiding scalds and damage.
• During operation, the appliance presses hot water and steam out of
the group head and steam wand. Do not hold your hands, arms,
and any delicate objects on or near the steam wand tip or under the
group head, while the appliance is in operation and some time the-
reafter. Do not point the steam wand to persons or any objects sensi-
tive to heat and moisture. Even some time after operation, hot steam
and water may escape from the group head, steam wand, and form
under the metal grid.
• Only use the dedicated handles for moving hot parts (e.g. portafilter,
steam wand) during operation and shortly thereafter. Always ensure
that the steam wand is turned to the drip tray or into an appropriate
vessel, while the steam wand is not in use. Before starting an extrac-
tion, always ensure that the portafilter is installed correctly at the group
head.
Do not attempt to remove the portafilter from the group
head, while an extraction is running
(extraction icon flashes, audi-
ble pumping noise).
After each extraction, always wait approx. 10
seconds for the appliance to release pressure, before removing the
portafilter from the group head.
Otherwise, hot water and steam
under high pressure could escape and cause scalds and damage.
Only use heat resistant containers with the appliance. Especially for
texturing milk, do not use any plastic or glass containers.
Even heat
resistant glass or plastic could crack or melt due to extreme local
heating!
This way, hot liquids could run out and splinters or chemicals
could get into your beverages, causing severe injuries and damage
to your health.
• When water escapes at the rim of the portafilter, immediately cancel
the running extraction via the button below the illuminated espresso
icon. Clean the portafilter, filter basket and group head, before next
use (see: ‘Care and Cleaning’).
