Problem
Possible Reason
The Easy Solution
The grinder motor is agita-
ting, but there is no coffee
powder given off.
The bean hopper is empty. Fill a sufficient amount of coffee beans into the bean
hopper.
Coffee beans are wedged
together within the bean
hopper or grinder intake.
Switch off the grinder. Use a wooden spoon for stirring
the coffee beans within the bean hopper. Then try again.
If this is not successful, turn the bean hopper counter-
clockwise to the stop and back to the required grind size
setting.
The grinder is clogged.
Perhaps, you filled pre-
ground coffee into the
bean hopper.
Disassemble the grinder and remove any obstacles and
lumps of coffee powder (see: ‘Care and Cleaning’).
The grinder stops unex-
pectedly and cannot be star-
ted again.
You ground large amounts
without breaks. The over-
heat protection of the grin-
der is active.
Wait approx. 10 minutes. Then try again. After each 3
minutes of contiuous operation, make a break of approx.
6 minutes.
The appliance does not
reach the extraction tem-
perature. The standby indi-
cator above the control dial
flashes.
The control dial is turned
to the hot water function
or steam function.
Turn the control dial to the central standby position. Then,
wait until the function icons illuminate.
Water or steam escape from
the steam wand, although
no function is running.
The appliance heats up
the water system.
This is normal.
You are using an unsuited
type of water.
Only use fresh tap water or non-carbonated, low-mineral
table water.
The steam function has
been activated recently.
The water system is still
on steam temperature.
Wait until the water system is cooled down to extraction
temperature.
The control dial is swit-
ched to the hot water or
steam function still.
Turn the control dial to the central, vertical standby posi-
tion.
Excessive deposits of lime
in the water system.
Descale the appliance in time to avoid damage (see:
‘Descaling the Water System’).
