• The
1 cup filter basket
is designed for extracting a single espresso (optimum
extraction volume: approx. 20 - 30 ml). Fill in approx. 10 - 13 g coffee powder.
You should use this filter basket in combination with the SINGLE button for 1 cup
espresso.
• The
2 cups filter basket
should be used for a double extraction. For getting the
optimum results, you may fill in approx. 20 g coffee powder. Use the DOUBLE
button for 2 cups. The default extraction volume is approx. 40 - 60 ml.
NOTE
You can program the extraction volume according to your liking (see: ‘Entering
Your Own Settings’)
ADJUSTABLE, AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLED GRINDER
Via the integrated grinder of the »Design Espresso Machine«, you grind fresh, whole
coffee beans directly into the filter basket just before the extraction.
IMPORTANT -
To protect the grinder, when the grinding function is continuously
used for 3 minutes without any intermediate break of at least 6 minutes, the overhe-
at protection stops the grinder automatically. Therefore, make a break of approx.
6 minutes after every 3 minutes of continuous operation. This method preserves the
full flavour of your coffee as well, because some components evaporate easily,
when the coffee is warmed up during grinding.
When the grinder stops operation due to overheating, after a break of approx. 10
minutes, the grinder can be used quite as normal again.
The following features of the grinder can be used:
• Bean hopper for max. 230 g coffee beans.
• The grind size is adjusted by conveniently turning the bean hopper (see: ‘Ente-
ring Your Own Settings’).
• The amount is controlled via the grinding time. Therefore, each time you press
the GRIND button shortly, the correct amount is given off.
• The grinding time can changed according to your likings. Due to the minimum
grinding time of 5 seconds, there is no risk of changing the setting unintendedly
(see: ‘Entering Your Own Settings’).
• Your individual settings will be kept, even after switching off and unplugging the
appliance from the power supply.
