NOTES ON SAFETY
Normal operation Data destruction
Before shutting down power, ensure that the following
events occur; otherwise data may be destroyed.
l
All applications have finished processing.
l
No user is using the components.
l
When the main unit is turned off, the message “Power On
Ready” appears on the operator panel. Before shutting
down the main power (to UPS, power cable, and power
distribution box), be sure this message is displayed.
If necessary, back up files before shutting down.
Electric shock
The power that is supplied to the main unit cannot be
turned off with the power switch
alone.
The main unit has several power cables. To turn off all
power to the main unit, after the power switch has been
turned off, disconnect all of these power cables.
Data destruction
Do not forcibly turn off the power to a partition while the
partition is running normally. Doing so could cause the
destruction of data.
Equipment damage
Be sure to follow the precautions below when installing the
PCI/disk box.
Otherwise the PCI/disk box may be damaged.
Equipment damage
Connect the ground before connecting any of the power
supply lines. If all of the power cables are connected to a
single power strip, high current leakage exceeding the
specified value may leak through to the earth lead of the
power strip.
If the power strip is not directly connected to the main
distribution panel, use a power strip with an industrial plug.
