C.3 Installing the PCI/Disk Box
- Confirm that the current rating of the power strip or service outlet exceeds the
combined ratings of all equipment for which it is supplying power.
- Electrical ratings of this unit: 100-120 to 200-240VAC, 6.4A to 3.2A per power
cable, 50/60Hz, single-phase
l
Reliable earth grounding of rack-mounted equipment is required. If indirect power
connections (e.g. via power strips) are used, earth grounding is necessary.
• General installation notes
l
Keep ventilation holes clear of obstructions.
l
Install the PCI/disk box away from direct sunlight or sources of heat.
l
Install the PCI/disk box in an environment free of dust, corrosive gas, and salt air.
l
Isolate the PCI/disk box from vibration. Install the main unit on a level surface.
l
The AC power supply source must be properly grounded, with a maximum
resistance of 100 Ohms. Do not ground the AC power supply source using a
shared ground. Use only an independent grounding point. A shared ground may
cause the PCI/disk box to malfunction.
l
Do not run cables under the unit or allow cables to become taut.
Never disconnect the power cable while the unit is powered on.
l
Keep objects off the top of the PCI/disk box at all times.
l
Raise the ambient room temperature slowly in the winter to prevent condensation
in the PCI/disk box.
l
Use the PCI/disk box only after it has warmed up sufficiently.
l
Install the PCI/disk box away from EM noise generating devices such as
photocopiers, air conditioners, or welders.
l
Take measures to prevent electrostatic buildup. Note that many carpets generate
static electricity that can cause the PCI/disk box to malfunction.
l
When moving the PCI/disk box, do not pull on the front cover. This could cause
damage to the PCI/disk box.
Equipment damage
Connect the ground before connecting any of the power supply lines. If all of the
power cables are connected to a single power strip, high current leakage exceeding
the specified value may leak through to the earth lead of the power strip.
If the power strip is not directly connected to the main distribution panel, use a power
strip with an industrial plug (CEE17/IEC309).
