8.1.2 Cleaning of Objective Lens

1. Turn the Splicer OFF

(1) Open the wind protector to raise the up/down mirror to the up position.
(2) Turn the splicer OFF and raise the fiber clamps.

2. Open the wind protector.

Detach the wind protector handles, and open the wind protector fully.

3. Sliding the Positive Electrode

(1) Remove the electrode cover.
(2) Loose two screws (A) which secures the electrode fixture. Slide the
positive electrode backward to expose the objective lens.

[NOTE] Just loosen the two screws, and do not remove the v-groove fixture or

the screws.
