Emergency procedures
Sending a distress signal
In emergency, a distress signal may be transmitted using the DZM. In distress mode, the DZM transmits position
data every 60 seconds with a distress tag attached. The receiving server identifies the distress signal and
automatically raises an alarm, alerting nominated parties by text message, pager or email (if supported by your
tracking service provider).
If the pilot terminates distress mode, a Distress Cancelled message is sent by the Flightcell DZM to indicate that
distress mode has been deliberately cancelled.
An appropriately configured receiving server is required to receive distress signals and alert nominated parties.
STEP 1 - Transmitting a distress signal:
From the 'Main Screen', press and hold the
DISTRESS quick key for 1.5 seconds to send a distress
signal.

flashes at the bottom of the LCD 'Main Screen' when in distress mode.
STEP 2 - Reinstating normal mode:
From the 'Main Screen', press and hold the
DISTRESS quick key for 1.5 seconds to return to normal
mode.
