speed. (Refer to page 2-27 for more information on PI control.) For increased
throughput, this division allows printing during acceleration and deceleration.

PI control keeps the carriage motor speed constant using the following steps:
1.
outputs two encoder pulses
and ENCB) to the gate array.
2.
The gate array selects one
two pulses and sends the signal to the CPU
port.
3.
The CPU outputs the PWM (pulse width modulation) signal according to the
carriage motor speed to the PWM port
gate array and determines the
duty of the carriage drive timing.
4.
CR ports A, B, and C output the drive signal for the CR motor.
