Platen Gap Motor Value Adjustment
This section describes how to measure the parameters (ALPHA, BETA, GAMMA
values) for the PG mechanism unit. Since the ALPHA and BETA values are
unique to each mechanism unit, they are written on the label, as shown in Figure
4-9, so that the values can be
at glance. Be sure to perform this
measurement and correct the value written into memory to match the value
written on the label, because revising this value is necessary when the other units
(board or printhead) are changed and when the bidirectional printing alignment
(described later in this chapter) is executed.
Note :
The GAMMA value is the paper thickness parameter. The
has a total of four tables, from parameter 0 to parameter 3. The default
setting value is parameter 1, but you may change this, if necessary.
Caution
This measurement is important because it determines theplaten
so be sure to use
the exclusive thickness gauge set and tension gauge supplied by EPSON.

Do not turn theprinter
off
during the adjustment.
When adjusting the
platen
narrower or
wider, use the MICRO
(
A
)
and (v)
buttons to adjust thegup 1 step
at
a time,
and
use the TEAR
MICRO
(
A
) or (v) buttons simultaneously to adjust thegup by 10 steps
at
a time.
When saving theparameter to the EEPROM, it is
necessary
to perform a reset
operation by pressing the TEAR OFF and MICRO
(v) buttons
at
the
same
time.
Afterperforming this adjustment, perform the bidirectional adjustment, us explained
later in this chapter.
