Carriage Timing Belt Tension Adjustment
Adjust the CR motor timing belt tension when any carriage mechanism part (such
as the CR motor, belt pulley, or carriage timing belt) is disassembled. Remove the
printer mechanism before performing this adjustment. (See page 3-26.)
Warning
Beforeperforming this adjustment, carefully secure theprinter mechanism because an 8.8 lb
(4 kg) force is applied to it when the tension lever is pulled in the horizontal direction.

Refer to Figure 4-2 and loosen the 3 tension adjustment screws on the CR
motor. (Loosen the screws, but do not remove them.)

Confirm that the carriage timing belt is attached properly and that no load is
applied to it.

Insert the tension gauge hook through the hole in the tension lever. (See
Figure 4-2.)

Pull the tension gauge horizontally to apply an 8.8 lb (4 kg) force.
Move the belt left and right while pulling the tension gauge, and move the
motor pulley slightly.

Tighten the 3 tension adjustment screws and secure them while the 8.8 lb (4
kg) force is applied.
7.
Finish tightening the 3 tension adjustment screws.
