Adjustments
Figure 4-5. Parallelism Adjust Lever
To perform the carriage guide shaft parallelism adjustment, follow these steps:
1.
Remove the paper bail assembly. (See page 3-34.)
2.
Remove the tension roller shaft. (See page 3-36.)
3.
Remove the printhead with the
holder. (See page 3-7.) Next, attach
the dial gauge base with the 2 dial gauges in the same way as you attach the
printhead. (When you attach the dial gauge base to the carriage, pull the tie
band forward and secure the thumb screws to hold the tool securely.)
4.
At the right side frame, loosen (but do not remove) the 2 screws securing the
parallelism adjust lever. (Refer to Figure 4-6.)
5.
Loosen the 2 thumb screws and remove the dial gauge base, along with the 2
dial gauges, from the dial gauge master.
6. Using the carriage guide shaft gear, adjust the gauge mounting position so
that the tips of the gauges (portions A and B in the Figure 4-6) are both
touching the platen. (To eliminate any play between the dial gauge base and
the carriage, pull the tie band to secure the dial gauge base before securing the
thumb screws.)
