• Administrator Password - Type the administrator password.
• Confirm the administrator password - Retype the password to
confirm.
2. Click Apply.
Note: When the system is joined to the Active Directory domain, the MMC
(Microsoft Management Console) that is running on the domain controller
manages all share security. By default, when a CIFS share is created, the
default security setting allows access for all users. Any access restriction on
individual users must be managed from the MMC.
Joining a domain using a domain user credential
Many large companies do not want to use the Administrator account
to enable users to join the ADS domain. They prefer to give special
rights for joining the domain to a normal domain user account. This
section illustrates how to do this.
In this example, the following information is assumed:

The ADS is running on a Windows 2003 Server system.
◆
ADS domain name is abc.def.xyz.com
◆
User1 is a normal domain user that has no administrative
privileges.
◆
The server hostname is DL3D1.
◆
The DNS domain name is abc.def.xyz.com
◆
The DNS IP address is 10.20.30.40
On the Windows 2003 MMC:
1. Delegate the right to join the domain:
a. Select the domain name abc.def.xyz.com
b. Right-click and select Delegate Control.Click Add.
c. Type the username: user1
d. Click OK.
e. Delegate the following common tasks. Join a computer to the
domain.
f. Click Finish.
