APPENDIX B. ALTERNATIVE METHOD OF DEVICE FIRMWARE UPDATE
In case firmware update via web interface or console (Тelnet, RS-232) is not possible, an alternative
firmware update method via RS-232 can be used.
To update the device firmware, the following programs are required:
Terminal program (for example, TERATERM);
TFTP server program.
Firmware update procedure:
1.
Connect to the Ethernet port of the device.
2.
Connect the PC COM port to the device console port using a crossed cable.
3.
Run the terminal program.
4.
Configure data transmission rate: 115200, data format: 8 bit w/o parity, 1 stop bit, w/o flow
control.
5.
Run the tftp server program on the PC and specify the path to the
smg_files
folder. Create the
smg4
subfolder in the folder and place there the
smg4_kernel, smg4_initrd
files (the computer that runs
the TFTP server and the device should be located in the same network).
6.
Turn the device on and stop the startup sequence by entering the
stop
command in the terminal
program window:
