Attention
The ACC is neither a safety system nor an
obstacle detector. It is a convenience system for the
rider’s comfort. Its speed adjustment capability is
intended to make cruise control more effective and
usable when traffic speeds vary. However, it is not
intended to, nor does it ever replace, the need for the
rider to use extreme care while operating the
motorcycle. The ACC cannot take all street and
traffic conditions into account. Complex riding
situations are not always fully recognized by the
ACC. This could result in wrong or missing distance
warnings. The rider is and must always remain
responsible for safe brake operation, controlling the
motorcycle’s speed, maintaining a safe distance
from the vehicle ahead appropriate to the
environmental conditions, complying with
applicable laws in the state or country where s/he is
riding, as well as for actively intervening to avoid
collisions by braking or accelerating. The rider must
always maintain a very high level of concentration
while riding, always keeping both hands on the
handlebars.
Attention
The ACC is not a substitute for active
involvement of the rider in the motorcycle’s
operation. It does not react to stationary objects or
pedestrians, nor does it recognize or predict the
curvature and lane layout or the movement of
preceding vehicles ahead of the motorcycle. The ACC
may not detect narrow vehicles driving in front of the
rider, such as bicycles and motorcycles, or vehicles
driving in an offset formation. It is the rider’s
responsibility to be attentive to the road, traffic and
weather conditions. Additionally, the rider must
provide the steering, braking and other driving
inputs necessary to remain in control of the
motorcycle. The ACC is designed for use on
highways. It is not designed for use in the city,
mountainous or winding roads, or off-road. The ACC
system should not be used on bumpy roads, roads
with gravel, on wet asphalt that may lead to
hydroplaning risk, or in bad weather conditions (such
as rain, fog, ice, snow, hail). In such situations, the
ACC does not perform its function properly and may
not operate correctly. For safety reasons, the ACC
should not be used in complex road situations, such
as roads with many bends, turning lanes, highway
entrances and exits, or in construction zones.
