5.7 Using the System Exerciser
The system exerciser emulates an operating system by interacting with system
devices and tests all internal and external devices. Use the system exerciser if
your system has intermittent problems. The system exerciser takes up to 11
minutes to complete and does not write on any media.
If you suspect problems, use the system exerciser to check the quality of
your software media. Insert a disc into the RRD42 compact disc drive before
running the system exerciser.
To test your system, follow these steps:
1.
Put the system in console mode by pressing the halt button on the rear of
the system and then pressing Return.
2.
Enter the TEST 50 command at the console prompt to display your
configuration. Check that all devices are present in the configuration
display.
3.
Enter the TEST 0 command:
>>> TEST 0
Return
The following example shows the display that appears after the system
exerciser has run all tests. There is an error message for the RRD42
compact disc drive. If you an error message appears, contact your service
representative.
