3.3 Unpacking an Expansion Box
SCSI peripherals in external, standalone enclosures usually come with the
following accessories:
•
One 50-pin to 50-pin cable (part number BC19J-1E). Use this cable to
connect the expansion box to other expansion boxes.
•
One 68-pin to 50-pin cable (part number BC56H-03). Use this cable to
connect the expansion box to the system unit.
•
One 50-pin terminator.
•
One power cord.
Before you set up your expansion box, make sure you have all these parts.
Check the contents of the box against the shipping list.
3.4 Connecting One Expansion Box
To connect a single expansion box to your system unit, follow these steps:
1.
Set the
l O
power switches on the system unit and expansion box to the
off (O) position.
2.
Turn the expansion box so that the back is facing you.
3.
Set the SCSI ID number.
Each device is shipped with the SCSI ID number set to 0. Refer to the
information provided with the expansion box to verify this setting.
The RRD42 tabletop drive has a rear-panel pushbutton that spins a wheel
and advances a number. To set the device ID number, press the button
until the desired number appears.
4.
Connect the 68-pin to 50-pin expansion box cable as follows:
Connect one end of the cable to the SCSI port on the rear of the system
unit. Snap the spring locks in place.
Connect the other end of the cable to the top port on the rear of the
expansion box. Snap the bail lock loops in place.
5.
Connect a 50-pin terminator to the lower port on the expansion box.
Caution
Check the voltage requirement of the expansion box before powering
up.
