SCSI Buses
Internal SCSI
Bus
The internal SCSI bus supports the internal removable-media
devices and can be extended to the internal StorageWorks shelf
or to an external expander. The Fast SCSI-2 adapter supports
up to seven drives.
One internal StorageWorks shelf is standard with the system.
The StorageWorks shelf can support up to eight 3.5-inch storage
devices. The StorageWorks shelf can be configured to run as a
single bus or a dual bus and is ‘‘wide ready.’’ That is, with the
proper adapter, faster-performing wide disks can be plugged into
the StorageWorks enclosure.
Configuring
the Removable
Media Bus Removable-media storage devices should only be installed by a
qualified service person.
Warning
Before connecting removable-media SCSI devices to your
system, turn off all power to the system (both AC and
DC). Refer to ‘‘Powering Down the System’’ in Chapter 1
for information about turning off AC and DC power.
