Leading and trailing blank spaces are not supported in the username or password
fields. They will be truncated.
Shutdown or restart a node gracefully
When performing tasks on a node that require it to be shutdown or restarted, do so
gracefully.
Operating system upgrades and patches, as well as other maintenance activities, like
part replacement, require shutting down or rebooting a node.
Gracefully shut down or reboot a node
Prepare the server for a patching or maintenance operation (such as a part
replacement) by entering the node into maintenance mode and shutting down/
rebooting the node in a graceful fashion.
Before you begin
Ensure that you have admin rights for accessing the VxFlex OS GUI. If necessary, the
customer can give you the credentials.
Procedure
1. When shutting down/rebooting a node that is a Master MDM (manager), it is
recommended that you manually switch MDM ownership to a different node:
