1. Generate the logs on the local nodes.
2. Transfer the log files to the AMS server.
3. Download the logs.

The non-disruptive operation can upgrade the following components:
n
VxFlex OS components (MDM and TieBreaker, SDS, SDC, LIA, and RFcache)
n
DAS Cache
n
Operating system patches
n
VxFlex OS AMS and VxFlex OS GUI
n
BMC (iDRAC)
n
Node firmware (Storage controller, NIC, disk)
n
BIOS
All upgrades (including OS updates) are performed from the VxFlex OS GUI.
Upgrade files are provided via a TAR file, which also includes an XML file that
orchestrates the upgrade process.
Note:
All VxFlex OS GUI software and hypervisor upgrades (including security
patches) in the AMS environment must be orchestrated by AMS. Upgrades
performed using any method other than AMS may impact the AMS
management capabilities in general, and orchestrated upgrades in particular.

AMS management takeover of non-managed nodes
The AMS can "take ownership" of all the nodes on an existing VxFlex Ready Node
system that is currently running VxFlex OS GUI without AMS management. When
the process is complete, all the servers in the system are managed with the AMS.
The take-ownership process is performed from the VxFlex OS GUI together with
an AMS CLI command.
Implementing VxFlex OS
Implementing the VxFlex Ready Node system includes the following steps:
1. Assemble the hardware in the rack, and connect to the fully-protected source
power supply and a fully HA networking solution.
2. Power on the chassis.
3. Install the AMS and the VxFlex OS GUI, on a server that will remain outside of the
VxFlex Ready Node system.
4. Configure the initial IP address pools, passwords and vCenter (for ESXi systems).
5. Run the add node/deployment process.
Communication is done over the existing LAN data network using standard TCP/IP.
The MDM and SDS nodes can be assigned up to eight IP addresses, enabling wider
bandwidth and better I/O performance and redundancy.
You perform the physical layer setup with the Deployment wizard.
