5.9 Date, Time and Timezone
To adjust the date and time use the
date
command. Timezone is
configured using the CLI utility, or the
set_timezone
script.
Note:
Setting the system timezone creates a new file called
/etc/localtime
, which
erases the
/etc/TIMEZONE
.
Date and Time
The date command prints or sets the system date and time.
date
MMDDhhmmYYYY
where:
•
MM = month
•
DD = day
•
hh = hour
•
mm = minute
•
YYYY = year
For example:
date
101014452002
displays:
Thu Oct 10 14:45:00 <timezone> 2002
Note:
The time zone is configured using the CLI utility or set_timezone script.
CLI Method - Date and Time
Configuring date and time using CLI automatically disables any
previously configured NTP server.
To configure date/time using the CLI:
1. Open the CLI interface by issuing the command:
# CLI
2. Configuring the date.
The date format must follow this syntax: mm/dd/yyyy, where:
