Usage Guidelines
Availability: Serial, Telnet; FIPS Mode (serial only)
The 2msltime prevents a socket pair from accidentally being reused. Given the
lower latency and higher reliability of today’s underlying transports, lower times
are commonly used to more efficiently manage TCP resources. Use the no form
of the command to return the 2msltime to the global value. If no global settings
exist for a parameter, the factory default parameter is used instead. See RFC 793
and RFC 1122.
delay-ack
Specifies the amount of time to wait before sending a delayed ACK,
delay-ack <milliseconds|default>
no delay-ack
Syntax Description
Usage Guidelines
Availability: Serial, Telnet; FIPS Mode (serial only)
Delayed ACK transmissions are designed to reduce extraneous transmissions and
reduce transport overhead by attempting to piggyback ACKs on data. If no data is
to be sent, the stack will delay the ACK by the delay-ack value, waiting for the
application to produce data to be sent. As bandwidth has become more readily
available, delayed ACKs have become less critical, but continue to be used. Use
the no form of the command to return the delay-ack to the global value. If no
global settings exist for a parameter, the factory default parameter is used instead.
See RFC 1122.
milliseconds
The number of milliseconds a to wait before sending a
delayed ACK; the valid range is from 50 to 500
milliseconds (inclusive).
default
The factory default. At the time of publication, the
factory default is 200 milliseconds.
