Move to the top of the machine and locate
the pneumatically-driven hinged idler roll
which presses against the red drive roll to
help pull flatwork into the center of the
machine (Figure 4-18).
Repeat Steps 3 and 4, being very careful
not to allow any excess oil to drip on other
parts of the machine.

Check Upper and Lower Spreader
Belt Condition and Tension
Perform only when the unit is OFF
with power disconnected.
Turn power OFF at the main disconnect
switch.
Open both the left and right endframe
doors.
Carefully inspect the two sets of lower
spreader belts (one black set on each side)
(Figure 4-19, A) and the upper spreader
belts (Figure 4-20, A) on the unit.
Each belt should have the proper tension.
If any belt is damaged replace the belt.
For more information on adjusting belt
tension and/or replacing belts, refer to
the REPAIR chapter and the appropriate
section and procedure.
Close both endframe doors.
