Air Foil Adjustment
Because it helps ensure a smooth lay down of
flatwork, the air foil is critical to proper operation
of the machine.
If lay down becomes erratic, it may be because
a heavier material is being processed or it may
be that, over time, the air foil has slipped slightly
out of position.
Note that if flatwork corners are not being
consistently being laid down properly, it could
also be a problem with the CORNER STOP DLY
setting in the CHI Panel.
CAUTION
Do not make any
adjustments to the air foil
without first consulting the
factory service department.

Required Tools
1/2”, 9/16” wrenches
Perform only when the unit is OFF
with power disconnected.
Turn power OFF at the main disconnect
switch.
Open the left endframe door.
Locate the air foil positioning bolt (Figure
7-84, A).
Loosen the air foil pivot bolt (Figure 7-84,
B). Be careful just to loosen the bolt, not
remove it completely.
Loosen the air foil positioning bolt and
washer. Be careful just to loosen the bolt,
not remove it completely.
Move the air foil slightly up or down as
deemed necessary. Normal positioning
is about 1” (25 mm) above the discharge
ribbons.
Tighten the air foil positioning and pivot
bolts.
Start the machine and run several pieces
to test the adjustment.
