Upper Spreader Clamp Linear
Bearing Replacement
These bearings usually wear down in pairs,
either both upper or both lower. Even if only
one bearing shows signs of excessive wear,
replacement should still be done in pairs.
Required Tools
13 mm metric wrench, 5 mm metric
Allen key, 7/16” wrench, 3/16” Allen
key, Phillips screwdriver, clean cloth
Perform only when the unit is OFF
with power disconnected.
Turn power OFF at the main disconnect
switch.
Remove the two metric bolts which secure
the spreader clamp carrier assembly to
the linear bearing (Figure 7-24). One bolt
is longer than the other. Note its position
for correct reassembly at the end of this
procedure.
Remove the two screws (Figure 7-25, A/B)
which secure the upper rail to the unit.
Remove the upper spreader rail from the
unit and slide the linear bearing block off
the rail. Place both on a work table.

Remove the screws which secure the
worn bearings and remove the bearings
from the block. Be sure to keep track of
the spacer.
Use a clean cloth to wipe down the bearing
block and the spacers.
Carefully reposition the spacers (Figure
7-26).
Insert the new bearings, making sure not
to move the spacer out of position.
Secure with the screws removed in
Step 5.
Slide the bearing block back onto the up-
per spreader rail.
