Troubleshooting
WARNING
Read the REPAIR chapter and make
sure that the power is disconnected
before doing any repairs.
ISSUE CAUSE SOLUTION
Noisy Operation
1. Mechanical components
need lubrication.
Lubricate. Refer to the PREVEN-
TIVE MAINTENANCE chapter,
Semi-Annual PM section, Grease
Bearings procedure.

2. Inverter frequency setting is
causing noisy motor opera-
tion.
Adjust frequency. For more infor-
mation, contact the factory service
department.
•
3. Other component problem. Refer to the Rotating Elements
Stop causes/solutions below.
•
Discharge or Bypass Ribbons
Not Working
1. Improper tension on rib-
bons.
Adjust. Refer to the
REPAIR
chap-
ter, Discharge Section section,
Discharge Ribbon Tension Adjust-
ment procedure.
•
2. Discharge or Bypass ribbon
drive roll tracking tape worn
smooth.
Replace. Refer to the REPAIR
chapter, Discharge Section sec-
tion, Discharge Conveyor Drive
Roll Tracking Tape Replacement
procedure.
•
3. Inverter fault. Refer to Electrical section prob-
lems, Circuit Breaker/Motor/In-
verter Fault .
•
Rotating Elements Stop
1. Drive belt or chain is slip-
ping or broken.
Adjust tension or replace if broken,
worn, or frayed.
•
2. Idler pulley loose or frozen. Adjust tension or replace. •
3. One rotating element sta-
tionary: Check for broken
shaft, bad bearing or loose/
worn drive sprocket.
Replace as necessary. •
4. Check CHI Panel for message and locate appropriate solution
within this chapter.
Machine Operation is Sluggish
Message reads:
AIR PRESSURE IS LO
1. Incoming air pressure is
below 60 psi (415 kPa).
Make sure air supply to feeder is ON
and supply hose is not obstructed or
loose.
Make sure air supply to feeder is at
least 80 psi (550 kPa).
Make sure air filter is clean. Refer to
the PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
chapter, Semi-Annual PM section,
Clean Air Filter/Regulator/Auto
Drain
procedure.
