12” CHIPPER MACHINE MAINTENANCE

BREAKAWAY SWITCH
•
Check to make sure the breakaway
switch is working properly. This switch
activates the brakes if the chipper ever
becomes uncoupled from the tow
vehicle. When the switch separates,
power is sent to the brakes. Check the
wiring for any loose or broken wires.
Replace or rewire if necessary.
JACK STAND – FRONT
•
Check the lock pins to make sure they
are fitting properly and in good shape.
Replace any pins that are worn, bent or
damaged in any way.
•
Check general condition of the jack
stand. Make sure the holes are not worn
or elongated. Check the bottom of the
jack to make sure it will sit level on level
ground. Replace the jack stand if it is
warped, has unusual wear, or if it won’t
hold position when supporting the
chipper.
•
Grease the jack stand as necessary.
