Lens shift limitations
About lens shift limitations
The lens shift limitations measured for this projector indicates that all directions up or down, left or right, is valid for front projection
in table mode.
% off-axis
The % off-axis is de
fi
ned as: % off-axis horizontally = D
h
/d
h
; %off-axis vertically = D
v
/d
v
. D
h
and D
v
are half-width and
half-height of the image respectively, whereas d
h
and d
v
are the distances between the center of the shifted image
and the on-axis image. See image image 4-8.
The shift limitations for vertical and horizontal direction are always measured with the orthogonal direction at
0% off-axis.
Maximum vertical and horizontal shift ranges are not necessarily possible at the same time. A safe region
to shift is shown in image image 4-9. Outside this region, mechanical (lens mechanically blocked) as well as
optical (DMD outside image circle of DMD) limitations are possible.
The following cases are to be noted for the above mentioned scenario:
For this projector, the maximum shift up and to the left brings the DMD outside the lens image circle causing
a black corner, because the diameter of the active region of the WUXGA DMD is larger than sXGA+ and HD
DMD.
Maximum shift in two orthogonal directions is not possible for Scheimp
fl
ug lenses due to mechanical reasons.
Maximum shift capabilities
The table below lists the maximum shift measured for different lenses on this projector.
