Profibus® Application – Communication
On entering Device Focus view, the software will load the Blocks of the target field device and
make them available for parameterization.

Icon
Block Name
Description
Resource
Devices only have one resource block.
Specifies the general characteristics of the device. For example,
device type, manufacturer ID and serial number.
Transducer
Reads the physical sensor information.
Acts as a coupler between the function blocks and the physical
sensors.
Function
Provide the control by talking to the transducer blocks to set the
Inputs and Outputs.
Devices can have a defined set of functions they can perform, e.g.
Analog Input (AI).
