Resetting Control Characters
Change the c harac ters in the previous exam ple bac k to their original s ettings by downloading this
pac ket:

Notic e that the param eter s eparator is ? in this pac ket. This is the param eter s eparator that was
s et before this pac ket. Onc e the pac ket is rec eived by the printer, the new param eter s eparator

Using Immediate Commands
Im m ediate c om m ands effec t printer operation as s oon as the printer rec eives them , even if they
are inc luded within a pac ket or us ed ins ide quotation m arks .
Us e im m ediate c om m ands to c hange im m ediate c om m and or s tatus polling c ontrol c harac ters ,
res et the printer, or c anc el and repeat batc hes .
Enabling Immediate Commands
W hen the printer is firs t turned on, thes e c om m ands are not available. To us e thes e c om m ands ,
s end the c ontrol c harac ters pac ket and define the im m ediate c om m and c ontrol c harac ter. The
im m ediate c om m and c ontrol c harac ter is s aved in non-volatile RAM s o it is not los t after turning
off the printer. Onc e the im m ediate c om m and c ontrol c harac ter is defined, the im m ediate
c om m ands are enabled.
Sending Immediate Commands
Im m ediate c om m ands c ons is t of a three- or four-c harac ter s equenc e s ent in a pac ket or
em bedded in an applic ation. Eac h c om m and m us t be s ent s eparately.
Syntax

The printer c an ac c ept only one im m ediate c om m and at a tim e. Sending a c om m and before the
previous one is c om pleted res ults in an error.
