Data Matrix (ECC-200) is a two-dim ens ional bar c ode whic h is m ade up of s quare m odules
arranged within a perim eter finder pattern. There are 24 s quare s ym bol s iz es available ranging
from 10 rows by 10 c olum ns to 144 rows by 144 c olum ns . There are s ix rec tangular s ym bol s iz es
available ranging from 8 rows by 8 c olum ns to 16 rows by 48 c olum ns . The s ym bol s iz e is data
dependent. Data Matrix autom atic ally pads data.
Do not overlay other fields when des igning the Data Matrix s ym bol. Sm art im aging is
autom atic ally dis abled on form ats with a Data Matrix bar c ode. Allow a three or four-dot “quiet
z one” (blank s pac e around the bar c ode’s perim eter) for s c anning. See “Defining a Bar Code
Field” for m ore inform ation.
