WORK ON THE MAIN COMPONENTS
(FOR LEVEL 2 EXPERTS ONLY)
6.1 HEATING COIL
Remove the lower panel.
Cut off power to the appliance by turning the service switch, located in its upper compartment, off. Also turn
the main switch on the external electrical supply mains to off.
WARNING! Wait 1 hour before intervening after turning the machine off. This lets all the
hot parts you may come in contact with cool off.
Empty the steam generator by opening the tap on its bottom.
Close the steam generator tap.
Remove the 6 faston from the heating coil terminals and pull the temperature probe out from the thermostat.
Loosen the 3 heating coil screws (using a size 10 crescent wrench).
Remove the heating coil from the steam generator:
d)
If the heating coil is broken then replace it with a new one;
e)
If the heating coil is visibly worn or burnt then replace it (it has a black appearance when it is burnt; if it
has a white point this means it is perforated);
f)
If the heating coil is dirty with scale (it has a white deposit on its surface) then put it in a container
containing an softener liquid and leave it immersed long enough to dissolve the scale. Then rinse with
running water.
Put the heating coil back in. If necessary replace its seal when this is damaged.
Put the ground wire eyelet back on the stud bolt and then retighten the nuts to fasten the heating coil.
Make electric connections so that they are in the same order they were at the start (see: Wiring Diagram).
Insert the thermostat's temperature probe back into the heating coil.
Restore the electrical supply using the main switch external to the appliance and the service switch mounted
on the machine.
6.2 SOLENOID VALVES: CLEANING AND/OR REPLACEMENT
6.2.1
Solenoid valves in the upper compartment
WARNING! Wait 1 hour before intervening after turning the machine off. This lets all the
hot parts you may come in contact with cool off (in the case of EV1 only).
Cut off power to the appliance by turning the service switch, located in its upper compartment, off. Also
turn the main switch on the external electrical supply mains to off.
Turn off the water supply to the machine.
Press on the solenoid valve coil and rotate it until it is released from its support. Extract it from the solenoid
valve.
Loosen the metal clips and remove the solenoid valve by unscrewing the plastic ring located above it.
Extract the solenoid valve, remove the 4 screws and extract the metal mushroom. Be careful of parts housed
in the central cylinder; remove the rubber seal and clean it using compressed air.
Put the parts back in their seats and tighten the 4 screws all the way in. (warning: install the metal plate with
the slot towards the hose nipple).
Fasten the solenoid valve to the plastic distributor.
Insert the lower pipe and pull the metal clip.
Insert the spring and the coil on the central pin and, pushing in, rotate the coil until it locks in place.
