PRODUCT SCOPE
The P846 open line detector relay is designed for the protection of power systems in the
event of a loss of critical power corridors or important tie lines, the loss of which can easily
lead to stability problems. The relay is suitable for application to EHV, transmission and
distribution systems voltage levels where fast detection of network topology changes are
required. The actions that can be taken upon detection of this condition include measures
such as load shedding, generation rejection or switching in of FACTS devices. The relay
also includes a comprehensive range of non-protection features to aid with power system
diagnosis and fault analysis.
